That isn’t a poll. Those are the results of Alaska’s all-party open primary election that took place last month. It was our first face off with incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan, and we won by 8 points with nearly 50% of the vote even though there were 16 candidates in the race.
We’ve led in a vast majority of polls all year long. The election forecasters and political experts have shifted this race to a toss-up or even in our favor. But none of that tells me we can win more than the overwhelming support we received at the ballot box in August, and the support we’re seeing in every community and village as we campaign across Alaska.
But even though we’ve already beaten Dan Sullivan, the race is tightening. Since the primary election, millions of dollars have been spent by dark money groups and corporate special interests to drag my name through the mud. They’re throwing everything and the kitchen sink at me to smear my record and confuse Alaskans on where I stand.
Outside interests are outspending us 3-to-1 on airwaves and screens across the state. My opponent has billionaires and even a trillionaire backing him – but I have you.
I’m proud to be running a grassroots campaign. But it does mean I need your help to raise the resources needed to compete, and to travel around a state bigger than Texas, Montana, and California combined to clear the record and spread my message on my own terms.
I am confident that we are going to win this race, as long as we work together. Alaskans in every corner of the state, from all walks of life, regardless of their political party (or lack thereof, like 64% of Alaskans), are fed up with Dan Sullivan and the rigged, corrupt system of politics that he represents.
Alaskans know that he tripled his personal wealth while in the Senate. We know he’s taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from out-of-state corporate trawlers destroying our fisheries. We know he’s voted 14 times to jack up prices on basic necessities, sending gas prices past $25 a gallon in parts of rural Alaska. And we’re ready to vote him out because of it.
So as we face the most critical fundraising deadline of the election cycle so far – our FINAL end-of-quarter FEC deadline – I’m reaching out to humbly ask you for a grassroots contribution to my campaign for U.S. Senate in Alaska. Whether you’ve given before, or it’s your first donation, every dollar adds up and makes a difference in this fight against the rigged system, and for fish, family, freedom.
I’m deeply humbled by how many people have stepped up so far to help us get this far, but the hardest and most expensive parts of the campaign are still ahead of us. I know we’re going to finish strong together.
