Why I'm running
Today marks just 26 days until Election Day. With just a few days left in this campaign, I want to explain again why I’m running to be the next United States Senator for Alaska.
It’s the final sprint – pitch in to help us WIN!
Alaskans deserve a senator who answers to us and only us – not greedy corporations or DC political insiders. We used to have this! Giants like Ted Stevens and Don Young ignored Lower 48 partisanship to fight for things like public media and disaster relief because rural Alaska depends on them.
There was a time when our delegation was known for being small but mighty, but those days feel long gone. Members of Congress are more focused on cutting deals for themselves and their big corporate donors than standing up for their constituents, and Alaskans are paying the price.
That’s why I’m in this fight: to lower prices, take on DC corruption, and be an independent voice for Alaskans. I’ll stand up to anyone, including people in my own party, who don’t understand what Alaska needs. And I’ll work with anyone to deliver for Alaska and move our state forward.
DC politicians don’t understand us. Lower 48ers who have never set foot in our state are making one-size-fits-all rules that don’t work for Alaska. They don’t understand that, for us, energy prices are life or death. When Dan Sullivan votes (14 times!) to continue the war in Iran, he’s condemning Alaskans to an impossible choice: starve or freeze.
But while the Lower 48 political establishment doesn’t understand the needs of our state, in the Senate, I will fight for what our communities need, and I’ll work with anyone to get it done. My only allegiance will always be to Alaskans – not to any political party, and certainly not to Lower 48 corporations or billionaire campaign donors like my opponent.
As a symbol of my commitment to regular Alaskans, I’m running this campaign powered by grassroots support. Our average donation is less than $50. We’ve received support from every corner of the state and country, and over the next 26 days, we aren’t slowing down.
We’re facing a behemoth of outside money – DC Republican groups, corporations, and super PACs are pouring everything they have into defeating us. In a grassroots campaign, that means we need a lot of people to step up.
