Alaska Federation of Natives
Yesterday marked the end of this year’s annual Alaska Federation of Natives convention. This is my favorite time of year.
Every year in Anchorage, Alaska Natives from across the state come together to build community, discuss the issues that matter to us, and hear from our leaders and representatives about what they’re doing to fight for us.
Unfortunately, at this year’s Senate candidate forum, Dan Sullivan couldn’t be bothered to show up. I’d have liked to hear his answer on how his recent political stunts with his DC allies will lower our cost of living.

Alaska Natives make up 15% of Alaskans. The issues that matter to us aren’t fringe, and we deserve representation that shows up and fights for us, not his big corporate donors.
Right now, Alaskans in remote native villages like Shungnak are paying nearly $27 per gallon of gas. That’s an absolutely crushing price for fuel that they need not only to run their vehicles, but also to heat their homes – and they’re already well into winter there.
Not to mention, the high cost of gas makes EVERYTHING more expensive, particularly groceries and other household goods. In Kaktovik, a remote Iñupiat community on the North Slope of Alaska, a 60-tablet container of Advil costs $67! These prices are life-and-death, and Alaskans deserve to hear about their senator’s plan to lower them.
But instead of showing up for Alaskans, Dan Sullivan was calling in favors from the powerful DC political establishment that backs him. The Department of Justice just preemptively sued to overturn the results of this election if I win – a desperate attempt to distract from the fact that Alaskans are ready to reject Dan’s failed leadership.
My team has filed an intervention in their lawsuit to make sure every single eligible voter in Alaska can make their voice heard. But this race just got even more expensive – and with 9 days left until the most consequential and competitive Senate race in the nation, we can’t afford to leave anything to chance.
So please, if you have the means to do so, make a grassroots contribution to our campaign for Senate. Anything you can pitch in – whether it’s $1 or $1,000 – will make an enormous difference in our effort to turn out as many Alaska voters as possible over these last 9 days.
Thank you. Now let’s go win. 🐟❤️🇺🇸
